Intermittent Fasting: Could this be the kick start you need to a new you?

s without even trying to; I was chuffed. When I excitedly told one of the trainers about my new “discovery”, he rolled his eyes and said, “Duh!” (We’re all good friends in the gym).

So I looked up “Intermittent Fasting” and the web is full of good things to say about it. This was one example in particular that caught my attention.

“Intermittent fasting is the ancient secret of health. It is ancient because it has been practiced throughout all of human history. It’s a secret because this powerful habit has been virtually forgotten. But now many people are re-discovering this dietary intervention. It can carry huge benefits if it is done right: weight loss, reversal of type 2 diabetes, increased energy and many other things.”

I know two people who were told by their doctor to practice Intermittent Fasting after they had gone to see him complaining of feeling unwell. They were both overweight and sickly but you should see them now; they are feeling and looking amazing. There are several ways to do Intermittent Fasting and you must eat healthy.

By eating fewer meals and therefore fewer calories this way of eating partnered with an active lifestyle should enable you to lose weight as long as you don’t compensate by over eating when it does comes to meal times.

Intermittent fasting is the method of shifting the times at when you eat during the day. There are different ways in which you can approach Intermittent Fasting, below are some examples for you to try:

The most common form of Intermittent Fasting is the 5:2 approach, this is where you eat normally for 5 days of the week and then restrict your calorie in take on the other 2 days. The key is to also make sure your fasting days are not together, for example only fast on a Tuesday and a Thursday and eat normally on the other five days.

Throw in a few fitness classes a week and you’ll get even better results!!
