Hannah’s Top Tip to A Healthy Life

 In Bulalicious Blogs

How often do you think about what you eat? After every meal or at the end of each day? Instead, do you wait to think about what you’ve eaten when the damage is already done? By damage, I mean, diabetes, obesity, constipation, acne, and so forth. What you put into your body are all contributing factors to these types of symptoms.

One habit I’ve always been fond of and thought to be a worthwhile step towards a healthy lifestyle, is to keep a nutritional log book. What is a nutrition log? It is designed to record exactly what foods you’ve been eating and at what times during the day. You must be committed to writing down everything you ingest, including H2O. A nutrition log should typically take place over a period of 4-7 days up to a few months once you’re in the habit.

The purpose of creating a log is to not only monitor your eating habits but also reveal bad consumption. We cannot come up with a personal solution to an unhealthy lifestyle without first recognizing the food source. Many people (myself included) relate weight gain directly to the amount and/or type of hard foods we eat without considering the types of liquid we drink. Soda and carbonated liquids are filled with artificial sugars that contribute to many illnesses that come along with gaining weight.

The same can be applied to eating healthy foods that sometimes aren’t always easy to prepare, you can hide in a smoothie such as spinach, kale, nuts, and protein. A lot of these smoothies taste delicious and pack a load of nutritional gains you’ll be proud to write in your log.

Remember, in order to benefit from your nutrition log, you must be consistent in writing down what you eat and drink. You will start to see a pattern in your eating habits and that is when you should take the time to adjust what will best benefit your body. It statistically takes 21 days to make or break a habit so I suggest you get started!
