A day in the life of a Bulalicious model

 In Bulalicious Blogs

Bula my name is Adi Litia Waqainaweni and I am lucky to call Fiji my beautiful island home. When I was asked by the Bulalicious team to model for them I was stoked to come on board as they not only collaborate the essence of Fiji’s cultural influence into their designs but they also donate 10% of each garment that they sell towards charitable causes, which makes Bulalicious more than just an active wear brand.

I was keen to be part of this shoot as I am a true believer in the power of an active lifestyle and its benefits to our mental and physical well being. I loved being able to showcase the Bulalicious Activewear Legend Collection and also show women how being sporty and active is the new sexy.

Living in Fiji, I live a very active life and spend almost two hours a day outdoors, whether it be going for a hike or a run at the Sigatoka Sand Dunes, learning to surf at the Sigatoka River mouth or just for a causal paddle or swim in front of my house in Korotogo.

Prior to any modelling shoot I like to ensure my skin is flawless and by this I try to hydrate my body with at least two litres of water a day to wash out all of the toxins from my skin and ensure I am blemish free when it comes to the shoot.

I don’t believe in restricting my body from anything as everything in moderation is what I try to abide by, however in the run up to the shoot I reduce the amount of artificial sugars that enter my body and cause unnecessary bloating. I am lucky to live in such an amazing country that provides beautiful natural sugars such as pineapples and watermelons which curb my sugar fix.

The photo shoot took place on an early Saturday morning on board Adrenalin Fiji’s luxurious boat the Bel’Mare and on location at Malolo Lailai Island. The day was fun filled will the amazing team at Skyward Industries in charge of photography and film production and the crew of the Bel’Mare accommodating every request and making sure it was all smooth sailing. It took around 90 minutes to get to the island, therefore we started shooting almost immediately which was a fun experience on a moving boat. The weather was in our favour for the whole shoot, as in true tropical climate tradition it can change by the hour.

The hair and make up was provided on the day by Eashna and Rahul who were an amazing team from Spoilt Rotten Hair and Beauty Salon in Denarau. These guys were on hand all day to create different looks which fitted with the vision of the Bulalicious team. I had looks that varied from being very natural, to feathers and gold foil that made me feel like a bond girl walking out from the sea. It was so much fun to add different looks to each shoot.

The Bulalicious team made the whole experience a pleasurable one as they were very hands on with the entire shoot and had clear direction for the looks that they wanted from every outfit with the help of the creative team at Skyward Industries.

The variety in the new Legend Collection is definitely something I would wear as not only are they of a high quality but the material is stretchy and super comfortable: not to mention the colourful hand drawn prints by the talented Sonam Sapra are truly eye catching.

It was great to try new experiences such as modelling on jet-skis and paddle boards whilst trying to pose at the same time. I was fortunate to be joined on the shoot by Bulalicious Ambassador Suka and fellow model Enora who made the whole experience a fun and memorable day. We were able to try out filming our own shoot underwater as well as action shots with a drone flying over head.
I am super excited that the Legend Collection has hit the shops in Fiji and is available online as I am sure the ladies will love it as much as I do. Being a Bulaliicious model was definitely a great experience and one that I will treasure.
